SpaceX successfully launched 24 Starlink broadband satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base on California's central coast on August 30. The launch took place at 12:59 a.m. EDT (0359 GMT; 9:59 p.m. local California time on Aug. 29).

The launch was conducted using a Falcon 9 rocket, marking the 107th Falcon 9 launch of 2025. The first stage, Booster 1082, returned to Earth as planned and landed on the SpaceX drone ship named "Of Course I Still Love You."

This mission was not related to USSF-62, OneWeb Launch 20, or NROL-145. The successful launch brings the number of operational Starlink satellites to over 8,200, as the Starlink megaconstellation continues to grow.

SpaceX has been developing the Starship, a giant, fully reusable rocket, with the aim of helping humanity settle the moon and Mars. The Starship test flights are separate from the Starlink missions. The most recent Starship test launch was on August 26 and was successful.

More than 70% of the Falcon 9 missions in 2025 have been dedicated to building out the Starlink megaconstellation. In fact, SpaceX's reuse record for a Falcon 9 booster is 30, which was set on another Starlink mission on August 28.

If successful, the Falcon 9's upper stage will deploy the 24 Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit 62.5 minutes after launch. The Falcon 9 rocket that has been landed 15 times is the one that was used for this mission. Its most recent landing took place on land at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

It's important to note that this article does not provide information about the specific impact of the Starlink satellites on astronomy. The Starlink mission is one of 11 Starlink missions that have been launched so far. This was the 15th launch and landing for Booster 1082.

SpaceX has made significant strides in reusable rocket technology, with the Falcon 9 leading the way. The successful launch and landing of Booster 1082 demonstrate the company's commitment to making space travel more accessible and sustainable.
