Campaign Initiated: Old Age Transition Month "Relocating into Seniority"
The city of Marburg is gearing up for its annual Action Month, a month-long celebration of movement, health, and community spirit, taking place from September 1st to October 1st, 2025.
Kicking off the festivities on September 1st is a 3,000-step walk with Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies, inviting all residents to join and set the tone for the month ahead. The theme of this year's Action Month is "Movement knows no age", emphasising the inclusivity and accessibility of the events for people of all ages, fitness levels, and previous experiences.
The Action Month program is packed with over 200 sports, movement, lecture, and interactive activities. Whether you're a fan of walking, self-defense, yoga, ball sports, gymnastics, Nordic walking, rowing, dragon boat paddling, hiking, or different forms of dancing, there's something for everyone.
Highlights of the program include a re-entry training for those who have not been on a bike saddle for a while, inclusive hiking, moving lunch breaks, and intergenerational "Talk and Walk" events. For those seeking intellectual stimulation, Professor Dr. Ralf Laging, a professor of sports and movement pedagogy at Philipps University Marburg, will give a lecture titled "Movement knows no age - everyday life as an opportunity" on September 4th at 5 pm at BiP.
The film "Ice Aged" about older people trying ice skating will be shown at the Capitol Cinema on September 10th at 5 pm, providing an entertaining and inspiring glimpse into the power of movement at any age.
In addition to the official events, various clubs in Marburg will host weekly events throughout the Action Month, adding even more variety to the program.

For those who prefer digital updates, a "Marburg page" has been set up for the Action Month on the "Teamfit" app, allowing participants to take part in the "Schritte-Challenge" and track their progress as part of a team.
The Action Month program aims to promote health maintenance and combat loneliness by bringing the community together through shared experiences and movement. The prize-giving for both the action card and the "Fußkilometer-Wettbewerb" will take place during the dance festival on October 1st, providing a fitting conclusion to the month-long celebration.
The Action Month "Move into Age" is organized by the city of Marburg, Marburg clubs, and the Marburg volunteer agency (FAM), demonstrating a collaborative effort to promote health and community spirit in the city. So, mark your calendars and get ready to move into age with Marburg's Action Month!
