Car Crash Leads to Vehicle Inflammation

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a car accident occurred on the A2 highway, heading towards Hannover, between the Vlotho West exit and the Bad Oeynhausen interchange.

The incident involved a Renault Twingo from Isenburg and an Opel Astra driven by a Romanian. According to the police, the driver of the Renault Twingo, aged 26, was attempting to change lanes from the middle lane to the left lane when the collision occurred in the left lane.

Following the impact, the Renault Twingo lost control and hit the right-side safety barrier. The Opel Astra remained in its lane, but smoke from the fire that ensued drifted onto the opposite lane, requiring it to be closed for about 20 minutes.

Traffic towards Hannover was rerouted via the hard shoulder and the right lane past the accident site from 10:35 AM. The lane was fully reopened around 11:00 AM.

The 26-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Further information can be found on the Bielefeld Police website: Bielefeld Police Website.
