Car involved in crash at crossroads, causing injuries
Yesterday afternoon, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Eichborndamm/Waldstraße/Wittestraße in Reinickendorf, Berlin. The accident involved a Mercedes and a VW, resulting in four people being injured.
According to police reports, the Mercedes was coming from Wittestraße, while the VW was coming from Eichborndamm. The 44-year-old driver of the Mercedes stated that his brake pedal had no effect, leading police to seize the vehicle for a technical examination. Similarly, the VW was also seized for a technical examination due to the circumstances of the accident.
Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy as a result of the collision. The driver of the Mercedes remained unharmed, but the 46-year-old passenger in the Mercedes and the driver of the VW sustained head injuries. The 17-year-old passenger and the 18-year-old occupant of the VW required outpatient treatment.
The intersection had to be closed until 18:45 for accident investigation, affecting bus line 221. A specialized commission of the Police Directorate 1 (North) has taken over further investigations into the accident. The further investigation of the traffic accident in Reinickendorf is currently being conducted by the Berlin Police.
The Mercedes driver entered the intersection at a green light, while the VW driver entered the same intersection while the light was reportedly red for him. The accident is a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and maintaining the safety of one's vehicle.
