Düsseldorf's Carnival Celebrates 200th Anniversary with Exciting Events

The city of Düsseldorf is gearing up for a grand celebration as it marks the 200th anniversary of its beloved carnival. The festivities will take place on February 1st and 2nd, with a host of new attractions and traditional favourites.

The heart of the action will be the Corneliusplatz, where a stage will offer live music throughout the carnival weekend. The programme kicks off on Sunday at 10:00 am with a welcome by the CC and DJ, followed by performances from various groups.

At 11:00 am, Jollies will take the stage, setting the tone for an exciting day. The children's prince couples, serving as the jury, will select the top three groups in the parade. The Rhythmus sportgruppe will perform at 1:00 pm, followed by Hermes and Band at 2:00 pm.

The Swinging Funfares will entertain the crowd at 4:00 pm, with the Fantastic Company taking over at 5:00 pm. The day's entertainment will conclude with a DJ set at 5:30 pm, but the Corneliusplatz stage will continue to offer programming until 9:00 pm after the parade.

On Saturday, the Corneliusplatz stage will also host the grand children and youth parade. The parade, which traditionally attracts thousands of spectators, will begin at the Burgplatz, wind through the old town, and conclude at the Corneliusplatz.

This year, the parade will see the participation of over 6,100 children and escorts, a slight increase from last year's 6,000. A new partner, the carnival association Momus, will support the committee by organising and contributing to carnival activities. Home improvement retailer OBI has also joined as a new partner, sponsoring the children and youth parade.

The realization of the stage on Corneliusplatz was made possible by the new sponsor Obi and the Stadtwerke. The Koe celebration, located nearby, will have around 50 booths and stands, with live music from local bands from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

As the clock strikes 12:00 pm on Sunday, Alt Schuss will perform, followed by DJ sets at 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 4:30 pm. The two-day celebration promises to be a memorable one, filled with music, dance, and the spirit of Düsseldorf's carnival.
