Cars in flames following numerous accidents on the A1 highway near Holdorf, prompting police intervention from Poland.

On Monday, 1st September 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway near Delmenhorst. The incident involved a Mercedes, a Chrysler, and a truck.

According to the Police Inspectorate Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch, the driver of the Mercedes, a 47-year-old woman from Lingen, was at fault in the accident. The driver of the Chrysler, a 44-year-old man from Damme, was also involved.

Sadly, both the Mercedes and the Chrysler caught fire as a result of the accident, but were promptly extinguished by the local voluntary fire department in Holdorf, who deployed a team of 17 personnel to the scene.

The truck driver, whose name and age are not provided in the available sources, was not injured in the accident. However, all parties involved were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance.

The driver at fault and her passenger, as well as the 44-year-old driver of the Chrysler and his 17-year-old passenger, sustained minor injuries. Two of the involved vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.

The A1 highway was temporarily closed for the investigation and removal of the vehicles, and it was partially reopened for subsequent road cleaning.
