Arson Cases in Kreuzberg, Mitte, and Neukölln: Berlin State Criminal Office Launches Investigation

In a series of disturbing incidents, multiple vehicles belonging to car-sharing companies have been set on fire in the streets of Kreuzberg, Mitte, and Neukölln. The latest incident occurred in Prinzenstraße, with Case No. 1085 designating the arson case.

According to reports, a vehicle belonging to a car-sharing company was set ablaze, causing significant damage. The fire was noticed by a witness and promptly reported to the fire department, who successfully extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the arson cases.

In Seydelstraße, Case No. 1086, a sports car was set on fire, causing damage to a Fiat, an Audi, a street lamp, and a bicycle connected to it. Another incident, Case No. 1087, took place in Kienitzer Straße, where a Peugeot and a VW Polo were set on fire, also causing damage to a tree.

The acts of arson are being handled by Berlin State Criminal Office's arson squads. As of now, there are no indications that these arson cases are politically motivated.

The traffic congestion and car-related issues in the streets of Kreuzberg, Mitte, and Neukölln are largely caused by historical urban planning decisions in West Berlin. These decisions prioritized car-centered infrastructure while reducing public transport options like trams, influenced significantly by the automobile industry. This legacy continues to affect these neighborhoods today.

Investigations into the suspected arson case in Prinzenstraße are ongoing. The police urge anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and help bring those responsible to justice.

The fire occurred just before midnight, and the public is reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Berlin State Criminal Office assures the public that they are doing everything in their power to ensure the safety and security of the city's residents.
