Cases of youth protection violations uncovered by Polish authorities
The town of Diez is set to introduce a new law aimed at regulating cannabis consumption in specific locations, including schools, kindergartens, playgrounds, sports facilities, and their vicinity. Known as the Cannabis Consumption Act, the legislation is scheduled to come into effect in 2024.
According to the Act, consuming cannabis at these locations will be considered an administrative offence. Those found guilty of this offence will face penalties, with persons aged 14 and above potentially facing a fine of 400 euros. The Act will be enforced by the Diez Police Station, which can be contacted for further inquiries at 06432-6010.
On February 19, officers from the Diez Police Station conducted youth protection checks in the areas of upper schools and the multigenerational park "Wirt." The checks were carried out between 8 am and 1 pm, during which several children and young people were found to be in possession of Snus, Vapes, cigarettes, and cannabis products.
The youngest person involved was 12 years old, and the seized items were taken as a preventive measure. However, the name of the police chief who conducted the checks was not disclosed in the search results.
The Cannabis Consumption Act is part of a wider effort to protect young people and maintain public safety in Diez. By regulating cannabis consumption at specific locations, the town aims to ensure that its public spaces remain safe and welcoming for all residents, especially children and young people.
As the Act approaches its implementation in 2024, residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the regulations and to respect the rules for cannabis consumption in public spaces. The Diez Police Station stands ready to provide further information and to enforce the Act as needed.
