Castle Castle radiates renewed splendor - festivities, day of exploration, and a peek into the future of the Bergish landmark icon

On the 7th of September, Schloss Burg, a symbol of Bergisches Land's history, culture, and community, will open its doors for a special event – the Discovery Day. This marks the official beginning of the new chapter for the renovated castle.

The festivities kick off a day earlier on the 6th of September with an official launch, including a ceremony for invited guests. The main event, however, takes place on the 7th, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Wupperinsel, where visitors can enjoy regional specialties at food stands.

The castle square will be bustling with activity, featuring performances by Peter Shub and "Kasper, the Jester". For those interested in learning more about the castle's recent changes, the Neighborhood Management in Unterburg invites visitors to a photo booth and information session during the same timeframe.

Approximately 3,400 visitors will have the opportunity to be the first to walk through the freshly restored walls on Discovery Day. It is strongly recommended to use public transportation, as parking spaces are limited. A shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes from Solingen-Mitte station via Unter- and Oberburg to Wermelskirich for Discovery Day.

Real knights of the Georgsritter and the True Bergisch Knights will guide visitors through the history of the castle during Discovery Day. Guided tours, lasting a maximum of 90 minutes, will lead visitors through gates, halls, and narrow defensive passages.

The entrance tickets for Discovery Day have been completely sold out. The box offices are closed for this special day. However, open doors in the guest houses of Ober- and Unterburg will be available on the 7th of September.

The new exhibition at Schloss Burg is scheduled to open in November. For those who missed out on Discovery Day, there will be more opportunities to explore the castle and its rich history in the coming months.
