The Forest House Valepp, a popular outdoor gastronomy destination, has faced a significant setback due to a water damage incident that occurred on August 7, 2025.

The outdoor gastronomy at the Forest House Valepp is usually open only on nice days. However, on this unfortunate occasion, the weather didn't cooperate, and food would have had to be transported through the rain. This was not an option for the establishment, as owner Johannes Rabl prefers to serve dry food to guests.

The water damage was extensive, flooding hundreds of cubic meters of the historic walls and ceilings of the Forest House Valepp. As a result, the water had to be shut off at the premises, and the indoor gastronomy has been closed since early August. Unfortunately, this incident has also forced the closure of all guest rooms, causing hundreds of bookings to be cancelled.

Rabl described the damage to the building and the business as enormous, calling it a "huge tragedy." He went on to say that the summer business at the Forest House Valepp has been significantly affected by the water damage.

The exact cause of the defect in the wall component of Forest House Valepp in August 2025 is yet to be determined by experts. However, it is known that water infiltration caused structural damage, leading to the need for repairs. The cost of the repairs is still unknown, but experts are currently working to determine the cost.

Renovation work is currently underway again at the Forest House Valepp, with drying machines in use to help with the restoration process. The work may continue until the All Saints' holidays.

The Forest House Valepp was opened in August 2024 after long renovation works. It's hoped that the establishment will be able to reopen its doors to guests once again soon, following the completion of the necessary repairs. The expected repair costs are approximately €15,000, with work scheduled to be completed by October 2025.
