CD Projekt Red Officially Unveils Updates for The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2
CD Projekt Red Provides Update on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2
In a recent update, CD Projekt Red, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Witcher series and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2, have shared some insights into the progress of their upcoming titles.
Firstly, the studio has confirmed that the Cyberpunk sequel, previously known as Project Orion, will indeed be called Cyberpunk 2. The game has entered the pre-production phase, marking the beginning of the whole project where various departments collaborate to outline what the game will be.
Regarding The Witcher 4, it is currently in full-scale production. Interestingly, the main character of the game is Ciri, with Geralt taking a secondary role. A tech demo of The Witcher 4 was shown at Unreal Fest in June, showcasing some of the technology from Unreal Engine 5. However, it's worth noting that the demo did not show actual gameplay from the game itself.
Unfortunately, no new information was provided about Geralt's role in The Witcher 4 or any cinematic trailers for either Cyberpunk 2 or The Witcher 4. Additionally, the release dates for both games remain unknown.
CD Projekt Red's workforce has been expanding to accommodate these ambitious projects. As of 2025, 444 developers are working on The Witcher 4, with an additional 24 joining in the last three months. For Cyberpunk 2, 116 developers are working on the game, with an additional 20 joining in the same period.
The development of both games is not only on track but growing. Fans of The Witcher series will be pleased to know that Ciri has gone through the Trial of the Grasses, making her a hugely powerful warrior in The Witcher 4.
In terms of Geralt's story, details are scarce, but we do know that he will play a role in the game. As for Cyberpunk 2, the main character remains a mystery, with no official announcements made as yet.
Despite the lack of new information, the excitement surrounding both games remains high. Fans eagerly await further updates and trailers to get a better glimpse of what's to come. Until then, we can only speculate and wait with bated breath for more news from CD Projekt Red.
