Celebrating the Anniversary of Radeon 5870 Graphics Card

In the world of graphics cards, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 has emerged as the new performance leader. Several reputable tech publications have reviewed this card, offering insights into its capabilities.

Driver Heaven and Hexus are among those who have evaluated an ATI reference card, praising its performance. The Radeon HD 5870 has also received positive reviews from OverClockersClub, TweakTown, Hardware Canucks, Guru3D, Inside Hardware, Tech Spot, Legit Reviews, techPowerUp, PC Perspective, The Tech Report, [The H], and Legion Hardware.

However, securing a retail version of the Radeon HD 5870 may prove challenging. While online retailers like ZipZoomFly, Newegg, and others have listed cards from various manufacturers such as MSI, Diamond, Gigabyte, XFX, Sapphire, HIS, and ASUS, these cards are currently out of stock. Some are available for auto-notify, indicating that they may become available in the future.

Interestingly, the only retail card reviewed among the mentioned ones is the Sapphire card. All other reviews focus on reference cards.

Despite its current popularity, DX11 support for the Radeon HD 5870 is not yet available.

Meanwhile, the upcoming NVIDIA GT300, part of the Fermi architecture, is expected to be released next month, assuming yield issues are resolved. This GPU was primarily released through NVIDIA's own branded graphics cards and major partners like ASUS, EVGA, and MSI. However, availability depends on the specific model and retailer stock, and they are generally not newly released or widely available this month.

Elite Bastards provided a preview for the upcoming product, but without benchmarks. Additionally, several reviews provide detailed analysis of the "Cypress" GPU architecture that powers the Radeon HD 5870.

As the performance leader in the graphics card market, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 continues to garner attention and interest from both tech enthusiasts and professionals alike. However, securing a retail version of the card may require some patience.
