Changes in Lumber Costs
=========================================================
In the latest update from the lumber market, the framing lumber composite price saw a decrease of 3.7% compared to the previous week. This follows a 10.6% drop in the lumber futures price over the past month.
However, it's important to note that the lumber futures price has still managed to rise by 19.1% year over year (YoY). Similarly, the framing lumber composite price has increased by 5.8% YoY.
In contrast, the prices for structural panel composites, Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) plywood, Western Fir plywood, and OSB remained unchanged for the week ending on Aug. 22, 2025.
Despite a US-specific weekly publisher for composite lumber prices not being explicitly identified in the search results, it's worth mentioning that the Bundesverband Holzpackmittel, Paletten, Exportverpackung (HPE) e.V. publishes a wood price index, although this is focused on Germany and related to packaging wood products.
This week's decrease in the lumber futures price stands at 1.1%, marking a slight slowdown in the upward trend seen over the past year. The consistent fluctuations in the lumber market continue to reflect the ongoing dynamics of supply and demand.
As always, stay tuned for the latest updates on the lumber market.
