Zandvoort Grand Prix: Second Practice Report

In the second practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Lando Norris set the fastest time with a time of 1.09,890 minutes, securing the top spot for McLaren.

Behind Norris, Lewis Hamilton achieved second place for Mercedes, despite spinning in Turn 9 during the practice. Yuki Tsunoda kept within Verstappen's reach, finishing in seventh place with a 0.3-second gap. George Russell, Max Verstappen, and Hamilton followed in fourth, fifth, and sixth place respectively.

Ferrari showed improvement from their positions 13 and 14 in the first practice, with Charles Leclerc finishing in eighth place. Leclerc, however, expressed dissatisfaction with this result, aiming for a higher position.

Aston Martin should have mixed feelings as Lance Stroll crashed during the second practice, but Fernando Alonso performed well, finishing in second place, just 0.087 seconds behind Norris. Stroll's crash occurred in Turn 3, and he was not the only driver to encounter difficulties. Alex Albon caused a red flag in the Williams by sliding off into the barrier in Turn 1. Isack Hadjar also rolled out in Turn 8.

The Virtual Safety Car was deployed during the practice due to an incident. Oscar Piastri nearly collided with George Russell's Mercedes in the pits during the interruption. Piastri's dart into the fast lane during the pit stop could result in a penalty.

McLaren showed the second strongest performance behind Ferrari in the first practice. Williams struggled in the second practice compared to their strong showing in the morning and had to settle for places 16 and 17. Franco Colapinto and Nico Hülkenberg rounded out the top ten.

Despite the threatened rain, the second practice at Zandvoort took place without slippery conditions. Lando Norris and McLaren will aim to maintain their momentum in the third practice and the qualifying session, as the Dutch Grand Prix approaches.
