Chased Across Multiple Highways - Police Take Driver into Custody
A thrilling high-speed chase took place in Oberhausen, Germany, on Tuesday, July 3, 2025. The chase began at the intersection of "An der Rennbahn" Street and Kranefeld Street in Gelsenkirchen-Horst.
The driver, whose identity remains unknown at this time, was behind the wheel of a Renault van. The police initiated the chase after noticing the driver using a mobile phone while driving, prompting a routine check. However, the driver failed to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit.
The driver initially joined the A42 highway towards Dortmund but soon exited onto Schlossstraße in Oberhausen. The driver then took the loop back onto the A516 towards Oberhausen before re-joining the A42, heading towards Dortmund once more.
During the chase, the driver sideswiped another vehicle at the Oberhausen Neue-Mitte exit but continued the escape. The driver's reckless driving included running multiple red lights and speeding through various urban streets.
In an effort to track the fleeing vehicle, a police helicopter was deployed. The chase continued on these urban streets until the driver was eventually apprehended after the chase, near Arminstraße in Oberhausen.
Remarkably, the driver was found hiding in nearby bushes after the vehicle was abandoned on Schlossstraße. Despite the driver's attempts to evade capture, the police were able to bring the high-speed chase to a successful conclusion.
At this time, the name or identity of the driver has not been made public. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
