A: The brainchild behind the game's theme is The Warriors. These street-smart warriors must battle their way across New York, avoiding rival gangs trying to cut their throats.
We knew this theme would be a unique break from the usual slots and offer familiarity to players. Crafting each gang's character was an exciting adventure. The red Spirits, death cult-loving warriors, The Clubs, a green group of golf-club wielding thugs, The Chains, bunch o' chisel-jawed bikers, and The Dames, the all-female, ninja-skilled clique.
With such a diverse roster, you won't have a hard time picking a favorite gang during the epic Gang Wars Bonus rounds.
Q: The board game-style bonus round shines bright. Can you take us on a tour of its creation and the obstacles you encountered during development?
A: We dug deep and grabbed some inspiration from other games beyond our field to dream up a unique bonus round for this slots monster.
Launching a board game-style bonus introduced a cool opportunity to fine-tune the popular Hold & Spin mechanic. But, developing the calculations was a puzzler. The biggest hitch? Making sure the players understood the action happening from one spin to the next, as this bonus feature was pretty idiosyncratic.

A: Our designers worked tirelessly to avoid drowning the players with too much complexity. They focused on clear communication of the feature to help the average Joe understand—even when only one gang wins the turf.
We wanted the feature to be exciting and fun, while still being simple enough for players of all skill levels to grasp—from rookie to pro.
Q: Art and design were crucial in capturing that raw, urban street vibe while retaining an immersive feel. How did your artists approach this and nail the aesthetic?
A: Our artists threw themselves into creating the aesthetics. They used the original movie and '80s New York City as inspiration and put in 110% effort to create a gritty, badass urban landscape for the player to explore.
Four characters were added to make the experience more personal and help players empathize with their preferred gang.
Q: With dozens of moving parts, what features were specifically crafted to keep gamers coming back for seconds, and what are your thoughts on Gang Wars' potential for long-term engagement?
A: Needless to say, Gang Wars needed a hard-hitting math profile to keep even the most analytical players engaged in the base game and bonus rounds.
What makes this game stand out is the magnificently innovative bonus round that holds the potential to shower players with flips of fortune. But, we didn't want to neglect the base game fun, so we threw in some Mystery Stacks Respins to boost the chance of full-screen wins.

A: Planning ahead is our jam. We're looking ahead and thinking about ways we can iterate on this game's mechanics or themes. We'd love to release Gang Wars 2 and create spin-offs featuring each gang member's story. That said, we'll play it by ear and see how the game performs before diving in deeper.
There's also the possibility of using this mechanic in a different theme, opening the door to a wider audience of gaming enthusiasts.
