Pulp Friction - Growing Skills Garden Wins People's Choice Award at RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The Pulp Friction - Growing Skills Garden, created by designers Will Dutch and Tin-Tin Azure-Marxen, has been crowned the winner of the People's Choice Award in the Sanctuary & All About Plants Gardens category at this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

This community garden, built on a former brownfield site, is a forest garden modeled after the most productive organic system in Britain - deciduous woodland. The central feature of the garden is a hoop constructed from recycled fire hoses donated by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. The garden consists of trees, shrubs, bushes, and perennials, all of which are edible or useful.

Ann-Marie Powell, the designer of the garden, expressed her joy about winning the award, stating that it is recognition of the garden's purpose to celebrate the joy, benefits, and importance of gardens and plants for everyone. She believes that the winner of the People's Choice Award would have been appreciated by Octavia Hill, one of the founders of the National Trust.

In addition, Ann-Marie Powell's garden was also the favorite of the RHS's junior judges and won the first RHS Children's Choice Award. After the Chelsea Flower Show, the Pulp Friction - Growing Skills Garden will be relocated to Bestwood, Nottingham to be used as a community garden.

Meanwhile, The Children with Cancer UK's 'Raines Repurposed' Garden, designed by Thomas Clarke, won the People's Choice Award in the Balcony & Container Gardens category. This garden features a shaded seating area with a statement multi-stem yew (Taxus baccata) and repurposed elements such as the seating and handmade floor tiles.

In the Show Garden category, The Octavia Hill Garden for The National Trust and Blue Diamond, designed by Ann-Marie Powell, was the winner. The Muscular Dystrophy UK Garden, designed by Ula Maria, won the Best Show Garden accolade at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.

Voting for the People's Choice Award was open for three categories: Show Gardens, Balcony & Container Gardens, and Sanctuary & All About Plants Gardens. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has a People's Choice Award for visitors to vote on their favorite garden.

Designer Thomas Clarke, who won the People's Choice Award in the Balcony & Container Gardens category, is only 24 years old. His win is a testament to his talent and dedication to gardening.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a prestigious event that showcases the best in gardening and design, and the People's Choice Awards provide an opportunity for visitors to have their say on their favorite gardens. This year's winners are a testament to the creativity, innovation, and commitment of the designers and the importance of gardens and plants in our lives.
