Chemical Fire Incident Photographs Released in Yonkers, Train Service Restored (Updated Report)

In Yonkers, a fire that broke out at a warehouse on Woodworth Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 2, around noon, has now been brought under control. The blaze involved a chemical reaction inside the Westchester warehouse, which houses European Beauty Concepts and 4Wall Entertainment's LED studio.

The Yonkers Fire Department fought the fire with 17 companies and over 80 firefighters. Despite the intensity of the fire, no reported hazardous materials were found in the surrounding areas or in commuter cars. The Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) of the Yonkers Police Department, along with the Emergency Services Unit (ESU), tested the air in surrounding areas and inside commuter cars, confirming the absence of hazardous materials.

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries during the incident, but no civilian injuries have been reported. The "shelter in place" order has been lifted, but officials advise nearby residents to keep their windows closed to limit smoke exposure.

The owner identity of the building where the chemical explosion occurred is not explicitly mentioned in the provided search results.

During the incident, train service on the Hudson Line between Yonkers and Greystone was briefly suspended due to heavy smoke and concerns about airborne contaminants. However, service has since resumed.

The Yonkers Police assisted by cordoning off the area, pushing emergency alerts, and helping evacuate around a dozen nearby residents. The earlier emergency alerts and evacuations were carried out by the Yonkers Police.

Several road closures remain in effect around Woodworth Avenue, though main routes such as Warburton Avenue are open. Crews remain at the scene to prevent flare-ups and continue the investigation.
