Childhood cancer conqueror and Komen head, set to reveal children's book at Alexandria gathering.
Paula Schneider's New Children's Book "Love Stays Strong" to Support Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Paula Schneider, the CEO of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, is set to discuss her new children's book, "Love Stays Strong", at Old Town Books on September 3. The book, which was illustrated by Nicole Wong, offers a heartfelt exploration of navigating serious illness as a family, with a mother explaining her changing body and health condition to her child.
Schneider, who is a breast cancer survivor herself and lost her mother to metastatic breast cancer, drew inspiration from her personal experiences to write the book. According to promotional materials, "Love Stays Strong" contains a beautiful text that all families facing serious illness can relate to. The book aims to provide comfort and guidance while reassuring children that family love remains constant despite life's challenges.
Wong's illustrations in the book are equally captivating, as they come from a family that has also been affected by cancer. The book presentation will feature Schneider alongside Karin Purugganan, a licensed professional counselor in Alexandria.
The event details can be found through Old Town Books, located at 130 S Royal St. Net proceeds from book sales of "Love Stays Strong" will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which has been at the forefront of breast cancer research, advocacy, and patient support since 1982. The foundation has invested over $3.6 billion in these areas and has helped reduce the breast cancer mortality rate by 44%.
For more information and updates, additional resources are available by visiting the foundation's official website, komen.org. Review copies of "Love Stays Strong" are available upon request. The presentation promises to be a meaningful event, offering insights into Schneider's personal journey and the foundation's ongoing work in breast cancer research and support services.
