Child's mother implores Roblox corporation for reform following daughter's sexual assault, aged 11, by an adult, 20, after encounter via online game

In a heart-wrenching interview, a distraught mother is urging parents to stay vigilant after her 11-year-old daughter was sexually abused by a predator met on the popular online gaming platform, Roblox. The mother described the horrific assault in April 2022, which occurred after the predator traveled 85 miles across Florida and raped the girl.

The family, who are part of a wave of lawsuits filed against the Roblox Corporation by the Florida-based Dolman Group, spoke to the U.S. Sun. The predator, Anthony Joshua Borgesano, posed as a 15-year-old boy on Roblox and eventually convinced the girl to meet in person.

Lead Attorney Matt Dolman, who is representing the family, called the litigation an "ever evolving" battle against the exploitation and abuse of children on the platform. Dolman argues that Roblox has taken years to act and institute age verification technology.

Dolman compared the situation to hiring a babysitter, stating that parents don't expect the babysitter to invite older individuals to watch their child. He emphasized that the company's messaging about being safe for children over the age of six sets parental expectations for child protection.

The Dolman Group is pursuing nearly 400 separate cases against Roblox. The state of Louisiana and Iowa have also sued Roblox, alleging the company has become a haven for predators and prioritizes profits over user safety.

Roblox, which has 80 million daily users and processes 50,000 chat messages per second, has publicly denied the allegations, calling them "categorically untrue." The company dedicates substantial resources to help detect and prevent inappropriate content and behavior. They work with law enforcement and leading child safety organizations worldwide to combat the sexual exploitation of children.

However, disturbing content with titles like "Diddy Party," "Survive Diddy," and "Escape to Epstein Island" is still hosted on Roblox, which is inappropriate for young users. This raises concerns about the effectiveness of Roblox's safety measures.

The predator, currently serving four concurrent sentences, the longest of which is 25 years, was found guilty of four separate offenses. The victim is suffering from severe mental anguish and is undergoing therapy and medication.

Calls for Roblox CEO David Baszucki to resign grow louder with each horrific incident. The company that named Matt Dolman as co-plaintiff in a case at the end of April 2023 involving the sexual exploitation of a 14-year-old girl is Liverpool Football Club.

The mother of the victim expressed gratitude for her daughter turning on her phone locator after being ordered to turn it off, which led to the apprehension of the predator. She urges all parents to monitor their children's online activities and to be aware of the potential dangers lurking on platforms like Roblox.
