The Windsbach Boys' Choir, a renowned institution with a history spanning nearly eight decades, is making a significant change this school year. For the first time, the choir will be supplemented by a girls' choir, the Windsbach Girls' Choir.

Approximately 20 girls have brought a fresh wind to the campus, joining their male counterparts in the combined choir, which now consists of around 130 children and young people.

The girls will initially sing in the "Young Voices," a mixed preparatory choir. After their time in the preparatory choir, they will move into the boys' and girls' choirs. The leader of the Windsbach Girls' Choir is Claudia Jennings.

Unlike the Windsbach Boys' Choir, which primarily sings sacred music, the Windsbach Girls' Choir will also include secular music in its repertoire. Exact details about the repertoire have not yet been revealed, but it is known that both girls and choir director Claudia Jennings will have a say in the selection of pieces.

The girls will have their own house at the boarding school, named the "Villa Green." Many of the young singing talents in the Windsbach Girls' Choir live in the boarding school and attend school in Windsbach or the surrounding area.

The first performance of the Windsbach Girls' Choir is planned for November 28 at the Advent matins in the Lorenzkirche in Nuremberg. The same evening, the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt will be opened.

Other boys' choirs, such as the Vienna Boys' Choir and the Regensburger Domspatzen, have already established their own girls' choirs. Now, the Augsburg Domsingknaben have announced they will open up to girls and establish two choirs for girls and young women from autumn 2026.

The Windsbach Girls' Choir, which was founded this school year, does not have any earlier counterparts mentioned in the article. The Windsbach Boys' Choir, with its new female counterpart, continues to make history in the world of choral music.
