"Christina Block's Short Writing: 'A Few Words'"
In the heart of a legal drama, Christina Block, daughter of Eugen Block, the founder of the renowned "Block House" steakhouse chain, is currently on trial for allegedly ordering the abduction of her two youngest children. The trial, which has garnered significant attention, has been unfolding over the past few days.
During the court proceedings, Christina Block has emphasized that the discussions about the hypothetical retrieval of her children were merely considerations that, in hindsight, seemed absurd. These discussions, which took place with her father, included scenarios involving a boat, a helicopter, a teacher infiltrating the Danish school, and an employee disguised as the new wife of her ex-husband.
The courtroom audience's response to Christina Block's detailed explanation was mixed, with some applauding her account, prompting a call for order from Judge Isabel Hildebrandt.
The trial has also seen accusations against Christina Block's partner, Gerhard Delling, and several others, who are alleged to have aided and abetted in the abduction. Additionally, a 63-year-old lawyer from the Block group, a 36-year-old Israeli, and several other individuals are also implicated in the case.
The abduction occurred on New Year's Eve night of 2023/24, when the children were violently taken from their father in Denmark and brought to Germany. The children were returned to their father based on an urgent application by him, and they only stayed with Christina Block for a few days in Germany.
The fourth day of the trial involved the questioning of Christina Block herself. Her ex-husband's lawyer, Philip von der Meden, questioned why she didn't try to obtain visitation rights with the children in Denmark, while the lawyer of her ex-husband, Stephan Hensel, raised the custody dispute during the trial.
There is a dispute in the trial over a question about an electronic diary that belongs to Christina Block. The court has scheduled 30 more trial days, potentially lasting into next year.
In October 2021, the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court provisionally granted Christina Block sole custody and ordered the father to hand over the children, but she could not enforce her claim in Danish courts. Christina Block has denied ordering the abduction and wants to provide a detailed explanation in court.
Christina Block's lawyer, Ingo Bott, has attempted to slow down the barrage of questions during the trial. The 36-year-old Israeli is said to have been directly involved in the retrieval action, while the lawyer is accused of ordering the abduction. The trial continues, with the public and media eagerly following the developments.
