"Chuck E. Cheese establishment reportedly experiencing high activity due to allegations that a rodent mascot is involved in credit card theft, as asserted by law enforcement."

In an unusual turn of events, a Chuck E. Cheese employee was handcuffed and detained by Florida police officers on July 23 in Tallahassee. The employee, later identified as 41-year-old Jermel Jones, was in a mouse costume during the incident.

The incident, which was captured on bodycam video and was released on Friday, began when Officer Jarrett Cruz approached Jones while he was entertaining young customers. Cruz identified himself and informed a concerned parent, "We got to do our job ma'am."

As the officers moved in on the costumed suspect, at least one young voice could be heard asking, "What are you doing?" as Chuck E. was led away. Another concerned adult confronted Officer Cruz's partner, who explained that the mouse was an accused criminal.

Jones was accused of stealing and using a customer's credit card. Officers had to struggle to handcuff the man in the mouse suit. They later helped Jones remove his costume, including his mouse head, fury hands, oversized shoes, and pants with suspenders.

During the incident, a woman tried to shield her child from witnessing the potentially traumatizing moment. Jones denied any wrongdoing, but no further information was provided about the outcome of the incident or the current status of Jones.

Cruz could be heard instructing the suspect to stop resisting during the incident. In response to an angry parent's question, "Would y'all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?", Officer Cruz responded, "Have a good night" and walked away.

This incident has raised questions about the appropriateness of such a public display of force, especially when involving a costumed character popular with children. It serves as a reminder that even in the entertainment industry, incidents of alleged criminal activity can occur. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
