City Center Crash Leaves 23-year-old Critically Injured
On May 26th, a significant traffic accident occurred in the city centre of Dortmund, involving three vehicles and causing a major disruption.
The incident took place at a driveway onto Klönnestraße around 4 p.m. According to the Dortmund Police, an 86-year-old resident of Dortmund was driving a Mercedes at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, he failed to notice a Mercedes driven by a 23-year-old from Lünen, which resulted in a collision.
The impact caused the Mercedes driven by the 23-year-old to veer into oncoming traffic and collide head-on with a VW. The accident investigation, conducted by the specialized traffic accident investigation team of the Dortmund police, revealed that the 86-year-old's Mercedes collided with the Mercedes driven by the 23-year-old from Lünen in the rear.
The 23-year-old sustained minor injuries in the accident, while the initial condition of the 86-year-old was severe but improved to unharmed. All three vehicles involved in the accident were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.
The accident resulted in a man being in critical condition, but thankfully, he has since recovered. The road was reopened at around 8 p.m. after the investigation was concluded.
