City-centered literary works
The Courtyard Readings, a unique literary event that combines literature with urban venues and a mild summer breeze, is back for its seventh year. This year, the event promises to be as captivating as ever, with three events scheduled for the summer months.
On August 15th, the Courtyard Readings will take place at Niemandsland e.V. in Oberbilk. One of the authors participating in this event is Linus Volkmann, known for his work in pop music and pop culture. Linus will present his latest live program titled "Blow up the charts! How to become a pop star - and why?" Mina and Meral Ziegler will also be in attendance, supporting Linus.
Just a week later, on August 22nd, the event will move to the German Booksellers' Association on Kaiserstraße 42a (access via Rosenstraße). Safiye Can, Jill Ziegler, and Philipp Herold will be among the readers at this event. Philipp Herold, who published "Alles zu seiner Zeit" last year, a best-of of his stage pieces from the past years, illustrated by friendly artists, is likely to present some of these texts at the event.
The final event of this year's Courtyard Readings will take place on August 29th at Quartier 8 (Schwelmer Straße 8) in Flingern. Jonas Baeck, Lucia Lucia, and Marie Gehdannjez will participate in this event. Jonas Baeck, primarily an actor, having appeared in various theater, film, and TV productions, is also an author. His book "Wenn die Sonne rauskommt, fahr ich ohne Geld. Mit dem Roller nach Dublin", published in 2019, tells the story of his 23-year-old acting student self who falls in love with a fellow student during a performance of "Romeo and Juliet" and decides to ride his scooter to Dublin to prove his love.
Linus Volkmann, who will also be present at the August 29th event, has published several books, including "Smells like Defeat", "Homesick to Hell", and "No Sleep till Langenselbold". He has also written for magazines such as "Intro", "Vice", "Spiegel Online", and "Titanic", and publishes a fanzine called "Schinken Omi" with friends.
The Courtyard Readings provide a platform for these and other talented authors to share their work with a wider audience in unique and engaging settings. Whether you're a literature enthusiast or just looking for a fun and cultural evening out, the Courtyard Readings are not to be missed.
