Marburg, a vibrant university town in the heart of Hesse, has unveiled an innovative data and information service called "Marburg in Numbers". This extensive data dashboard is the most comprehensive of its kind in the state, offering a wealth of statistics and data about the town.

The dashboard, available online and in mobile view, is divided into several sections, making it easy for users to navigate and find the information they need. Under the "Life in Marburg" section, users can find data on population development, including births, deaths, arrivals, and departures. The "Education and Participation" section lists the number of municipal and private schools in Marburg, which are attended by nearly 14,000 students. This section also provides data on the Marburg adult education center (vhs) and the city library.

Under the "Mobility and Traffic" section, users can find information on the development of publicly accessible E-charging points in the city area and the total charging capacity available. For those interested in the environment and climate, an interactive tile is dedicated to environmental data. The "Economy and Work" section offers insights into job market trends and commuter traffic.

Safety and order are key concerns for any town, and "Marburg in Numbers" addresses this by visualizing fire service deployments, broken down by type of deployment, and providing a timeline with information on the number of traffic accidents since 2015.

The service is free and available to various target groups, including interested citizens, politicians, media, companies, teachers, students, and researchers. It's even open-source, allowing other municipalities to adapt the city's portal for their own use. Users can also sign up for the newsletter of the University City of Marburg to receive all important news from the town hall and city life directly to their email inbox on a regular basis.

The implementation costs for "Marburg in Numbers" amount to approximately 12,000 euros (gross), and the annual maintenance and operating costs are approximately 1,500 euros (gross). The data used by the dashboard comes from the city administration, Stadtwerke Marburg (SWMR), the housing association GeWoBau, statistical offices, and external sources like the German Weather Service (DWD).

"Marburg in Numbers" was initiated within the Smart City process and is based on existing dashboard solutions from the cities of Münster and Aschaffenburg. To explore this comprehensive data dashboard, visit https://marburginzahlen.unsere Webseite.
