Dormagen Modernizes Municipal Buildings with Solar Technology

The city of Dormagen is set to modernize four of its municipal buildings with the installation of photovoltaic systems, as part of an initiative aimed at energy efficiency and climate protection.

The city will be contributing 5% of the total costs, while the federal and state governments will cover the remaining 95% under the terms of the funding. This funding comes from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection, and Energy.

According to Mayor Erik Lierenfeld, "Thanks to the state funding, we can modernize these four municipal buildings, use energy more efficiently, and at the same time make an important contribution to climate protection."

The buildings earmarked for the solar makeover include the Tannenbusch School at Kronenpützchen, the Friedensschule in Gohr, the city library, and the sports center on Wilhelm-Busch-Straße in Zons. The budgets for these installations are 38,600 euros, 46,700 euros, 106,700 euros, and 138,000 euros, respectively.

By generating its own solar power, the city of Dormagen aims to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to a greener future. The long-term energy costs of the city are expected to be lower due to the installation of the photovoltaic systems.

Mayor Lierenfeld further stated that both ecologically and economically, the city benefits from the new photovoltaic systems. The city intends to save public funds through the use of the solar systems and make an important contribution to climate protection.

The installation of the photovoltaic systems on municipal buildings in Dormagen is scheduled for the coming months. The city has received approximately 330,000 euros in funding for these projects. The city's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency is evident in this ambitious undertaking.
