Clash in Kalapana leads to numerous injuries as reported by the police
An affray occurred at the Seaview Lawn in Kalapana, Hawaii, on Sunday evening, leaving two individuals with serious injuries. According to Officer John Thompson, the investigating officer, a 21-year-old male was found with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen, and a 20-year-old female was found with a stab wound to her leg.
Puna officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:10 pm. However, a male suspect allegedly responsible for the stabbings had already left the area in a white sedan before the officers arrived. A white sedan matching the description was later located after the driver, a 20-year-old man, called 911 to report an attack and injury. The suspect's vehicle was heavily damaged and recovered as evidence and secured at the Hilo Police Station.
The suspect was located by officers on the shoulder of Highway 130 and was subsequently arrested for first-degree assault after being released from the hospital. It was found that the suspect had numerous facial and head injuries, including a skull fracture, which likely occurred during the altercation.
Both victims were transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center for treatment. The 21-year-old male sustained serious injuries requiring surgery, while the female victim was treated for her injuries and later released.
The police are asking for witnesses to contact Detective Sybastian Keltner for further information. Anonymous tips can also be made to Crime Stoppers. The 20-year-old man was positively identified as the person who stabbed the male and female in Kalapana.
This incident resulted in multiple stabbings, marking a disturbing event for the Kalapana community. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure justice is served and to prevent such incidents from happening again.
