Clinic of the Franks transformed into a movie location:
The Nürnberg Clinic, a renowned medical institution, has stepped into the world of filmmaking, serving as a location for the upcoming Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarden." On July 30, 2025, around 40 people from the film crew invaded the North Campus of the clinic for a day of filming.
The Institute of Pathology, usually a calm and cool space, transformed into a bustling film set. Cameras, lighting, and sound equipment were set up around the autopsy table, casting an eerie yet intriguing atmosphere over the specimens. The soft light during filming added a sombre, yet captivating, touch to the scenes.
One employee of the Nürnberg Clinic, Petr Pelikan, made his film debut in the Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarten" as a forensic pathologist. Pelikan, a 52-year-old preparator, found himself discussing the state of a murder victim with Commissioner Voss in one scene of the movie.
Pelikan was not the only employee to make a surprise appearance on the big screen. Denis Opcin, head of logistics at the Nürnberg Clinic, also had a small role as an extra in the Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarten."
The trail in Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarten" leads to the Nürnberg Clinic, specifically the North Campus. The initial investigation points to a violent crime in the red-light district, leading the new detective duo in the series on a thrilling chase for the truth.
The broadcast of Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarden" is planned for 2026, but the exact airdate is still to be determined. For now, the medical staff at the Nürnberg Clinic can bask in the glory of their big screen debut.
In an unexpected turn of events, the spontaneous appearance as a forensic pathologist in the 2025 Franken-Tatort episode "Gottesgarten" was made by actor Axel Prahl. Moritz Bock, the actor portraying the supposed corpse in the movie, got up after several hours of filming and left the set in good spirits.
This marks the first time the Nürnberg Clinic has been featured in a film. Pelikan reports that the rooms of the Nürnberg Clinic have been used for filming before, but he never expected to be in the next Franken-Tatort. The Franken-Tatort "Gottesgarten" promises to be a gripping addition to the popular series, with its unique blend of crime and medical intrigue.
