Close call for Punnat Punsri during APT Incheon's Main Event, as the tournament officially gets underway
The Asian Poker Tour (APT) stop in Incheon is nearing its final days, and the Main Event is heating up. After two flights, a total of 692 entries have been recorded, with the guarantee set at KRW 1.5 billion (~$1M).
Day 1A of the Main Event saw Chi Hsiang Chiu emerge as the chip leader, aiming to follow in the footsteps of Junjie He, who won the APT Main Event in Incheon last year. However, it was Daming Kang who stole the headlines on Sunday, winning the Single Day High Roller event.
Daming Kang, who had previously earned $36K in live earnings, all from tournaments in Jeju, South Korea, doubled his live earnings with his win in the Single Day High Roller event. This victory also marked his first APT trophy. Interestingly, Kang was defeated by Punnat Punsri in the event, but the Thai player could not hold on to the title, ultimately finishing as the runner-up.
Punsri, a former APT Main Event champion, having won in Taipei in 2023, has an impressive poker resume. He has won three other victories on the APT, four Triton titles, and three PGT wins inside the PokerGO Studio. According to The Hendon Mob, Punsri has over $25 million in live earnings. Despite his defeat in the Single Day High Roller event, Punsri will be one to watch in the upcoming Main Event.
Meanwhile, Dixon Pang leads Day 1B of the APT Main Event with 236 entries. A total of 89 players from Day 1A will return for Day 2 of the Main Event, setting the stage for an exciting finale. The final table of the APT Main Event will take place on Saturday, August 9.
The APT Main Event is taking place at Paradise City Casino, and the tour stop continues on Sunday, August 10, with Day 1B of the Main Event. The tour will also host 11 other events, providing plenty of opportunities for poker enthusiasts.
With the Main Event progressing and the Single Day High Roller event concluded, the APT Incheon stop is shaping up to be an exciting conclusion to the tour's season.
