Coastal Cleanup Initiative Led by SM Cares: Advocating for a Better Future
In a commendable move towards a greener and more resilient future, SM Supermalls, with its 88 malls across the Philippines, is integrating green design, energy efficiency, disaster resilience, and environmental stewardship into its operations.

Engr. Liza B. Silerio, SM Cares Program Director for the Environment, emphasised the direct impact of SM Cares' work on the safety of families. The organisation's efforts are focused on flood mitigation and marine ecosystem protection.
One of the most notable initiatives undertaken by SM Cares is the nationwide coastal cleanup, which mobilised 8,571 volunteers in the first half of 2025 alone. From these efforts, a total of 70,887 kilograms of trash were collected from shorelines and waterways.
Building on this success, SM Cares is planning its biggest cleanup yet in celebration of SM Supermalls' 40th Anniversary on September 20, 2025. The nationwide event aims to target 40,000 volunteers across various locations, with the main event taking place at SM by the BAY.
