Collision between a light truck and a signalling vehicle results in multiple critical injuries.
A serious accident occurred on the A13 between Schönborn and Ortrand on Wednesday afternoon. The incident involved a collision between two vehicles at a temporary construction site, resulting in the overturning of a Renault Trafic.
The small truck, a Renault Trafic, was driven by a 30-year-old Romanian. The driver and three other occupants of the vehicle were injured, with four of them sustaining severe injuries. Fortunately, the construction workers remained unharmed despite the accident.
The accident caused the A13 to be fully closed in the direction of Dresden for several hours. Traffic was able to move again slowly around 4 pm. The extent of the property damage is not yet known.
The highway police are investigating the cause of the accident. They are also checking whether the 30-year-old Romanian driver was under the influence of drugs. The responsible authority for investigating the cause of the accident on the A13 between Schönborn and Ortrand would typically be the local police or traffic accident investigation authorities of the region where the accident occurred.
The workers of the construction company were about to carry out roadwork when the accident occurred. The sign truck, which was also involved in the accident, was stationary at the construction site.
We will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate incident.
