Collision of Two Watercraft Along the Middelland Canal on the Inland Waterways of FW Hannover
In an unexpected incident on Friday evening, two inland vessels collided near the Noltemeyer Bridge on the Mittelland Canal in Hannover Groß-Buchholz. The emergency call was made by one of the ships involved in the accident at 20:10.
According to the original content transmitted via news aktuell from the Fire Department Hannover, the collision involved a cargo inland vessel and an excursion ship. Fortunately, no hazardous materials were released during the collision.
The Fire Department Hannover promptly responded, providing a fire engine, an ambulance, and a doctor's emergency vehicle. The excursion ship, which had approximately 170 passengers on board, was already secured to the shore, and the fire department assisted in evacuating the passengers.
Six lightly injured individuals were treated on site by an ambulance crew and a doctor. However, none of them had to be transported to nearby hospitals. The passengers were able to continue their journey home using public transportation and taxis.
The Fire Department conducted a medical screening of the people on board the excursion ship, but no further information about the injured individuals was given. The cause of the collision remains unknown.
The fire department remained on site until 21:15, and no new information about hazardous materials or additional details about the passengers' journey home were provided.
