Accidents and Incidents on Hessian Roads: A Recap
Over the past two days, several incidents have occurred on the roads in and around Fulda, Hesse, as reported by the Police Headquarters Osthessen.
On Wednesday, August 27th, a series of accidents took place. At around 7 PM, a 42-year-old Ford driver collided with a 64-year-old pedestrian on Rabanusstraße in Fulda, resulting in minor injuries for the pedestrian. No further details regarding accidents on A66, A7, Bronnzeller Straße, or Petersberger Straße were provided.
In the afternoon of the same day, a collision between a 44-year-old Honda Jazz driver and a 28-year-old cyclist on Petersberger Straße caused the cyclist to fall and sustain minor injuries.
Tragedy struck early on Wednesday morning when a 41-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a parked VW Golf on Bronnzeller Straße in Engelhelms. The estimated property damage is in the mid-five-figure range.
On the same day, at around 9:15 PM, a traffic accident occurred on Bahnhofstraße / Reichstraße in Bad Hersfeld between an Audi and a Ford driver. The Ford driver was slightly injured and taken to a nearby hospital, and the accident resulted in approximately €8,000 in property damage.
Moving on to Thursday, August 28th, a single-vehicle accident occurred on the A7 (heading north) in the exit area of the Fulda Mitte interchange. The 38-year-old driver of a Toyota Yaris lost control of his vehicle in a right curve, veered off the road, and collided with the guardrail.
Later that day, a truck on the A66 near Neuhof-Nord exit caught fire due to a technical defect in the axle area.
A notable incident occurred on L 3174 near Rödergrund, where a 20-year-old driver lost control of his Mercedes Vito, causing the vehicle to overturn and land on its roof. Remarkably, the driver remained uninjured, and the accident resulted in approximately €20,000 in property damage.
In a commendable display of quick thinking, the driver of a truck involved in a fire on Thursday temporarily controlled the fire using two fire extinguishers, preventing any further damage or injury. The highway was temporarily closed in both directions for the fire-fighting operations.
The fire department extinguished the trailer without any hazardous material leakage, and no one was injured. The estimated property damage is around 5,000 euros.
