Commencement of the fresh training year at the Greifswald City Council headquarters

The University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald recently welcomed six new apprentices, marking the beginning of their professional journeys in various fields within the city administration.

Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder extended his gratitude to all those involved in the training process, expressing his appreciation for the hard work and dedication that led to this moment.

The apprenticeships and traineeships on offer cover a wide range of areas, including personnel, construction, environment and sustainability, school, culture and social affairs, economy, safety, finances, and more. This year, the new apprentices will be gaining insights into these diverse sectors.

Three of the apprentices will be working in practical roles such as street sweeping, gardening, and media and information services in the city library. Meanwhile, the other three will be training as administrative clerks, learning the ins and outs of the city administration.

The selection process for these apprenticeships and traineeships is extensive, with only the most promising candidates being chosen. This year, the successful applicants were chosen from a competitive pool of 46 other candidates.

The city administration has a history of selecting apprentices and trainees from a competitive pool, providing opportunities for young adults to kickstart their careers in public service.

Prospective applicants can apply for apprenticeships or traineeships in various fields with the city administration. The application process for the upcoming year is already underway.

The training for these apprentices and trainees is being conducted by the Hanseatic City of Uelzen (Hanover city). The media and information services specialist training, for instance, is taking place in the city library of Uelzen.

Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder, along with the trainers and the chairperson of the works council at St. Spiritus, warmly welcomed the new apprentices. He emphasised the potential for these apprenticeships to lead to employment opportunities upon successful completion.

The city administration encourages interested individuals to apply for apprenticeships and traineeships, offering a unique chance to gain valuable experience and contribute to the city's growth and development. With the application process open for the next year, there's no better time to take the first step towards a rewarding career with the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald.
