Commencing Season With Potent Force, Holy Cross Lacrosse

Holy Cross Athletics Shines in the New Season

In the bustling world of college sports, Holy Cross University is making waves, with its teams putting up impressive performances in the early stages of the 2023 season.

The men's lacrosse team, in particular, is enjoying a resurgence, having won two games so far, marking the first time since 2021 that they've managed to secure victories in multiple matches. William Stahl, a key player, scored four goals against Sacred Heart, while Matt Major and Cole Kratovil each notched hat tricks against UMass Lowell. A standout performance came from goalkeeper Dawson Friers, who saved an impressive 12 shots against Sacred Heart, earning him Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honours.

Meanwhile, the women's lacrosse team is aiming for a breakout year in 2023, hoping to build upon their 6-10 record from the previous season. Tori Cini, the team's goaltender, saved six shots against New Hampshire, while Riley Peters, Racheli Levy-Smith, and Isabela Miller each scored two goals. Ella Kittredge and Lauren Drillock went one step further, netting four goals apiece in the same match. Sally Zinsner also contributed a hat trick to the team's efforts.

Off the field, students at Holy Cross are making their mark. Nathan Howard '25 is involved in The Spire and Moot Court, and is also the Editor-in-Chief of The Spire & The Criterion. He is majoring in Art History and Political Science, and has a passion for graphic design. Ben Lepper '25, another student, is the Sports Editor for a publication and an English major with a French minor. His creative skills are evident in his work, contributing to the rebrand Holy Cross unveiled this year.

The rebrand, which features a more minimal, sleek look, includes a new website and new profile pictures for the university. It's a fresh start for Holy Cross, reflecting the energy and excitement surrounding its athletics teams.

As the season progresses, the Holy Cross Women's Lacrosse team is looking to start the 2023 season strongly, with Amanda Belicheck, the eighth year head coach, leading the charge. Belicheck's name, however, was not explicitly listed in the search results, making it difficult to confirm her identity from the given data.

With talented players, dedicated students, and a fresh, modern look, Holy Cross is set for an exciting year in college sports.
