Green Party Leader Criticizes Delay in Corona Emergency Aid Payment

Germany's Green Party parliamentary group leader, Katrin Göring-Eckardt, has expressed her concern over the delay and bureaucratic hurdles in the payment of corona emergency aid. In a series of statements, Göring-Eckardt has criticized the handling of the aid by Economics Minister Peter Altmaier and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, calling it a "bankruptcy declaration of the federal government."

Göring-Eckardt has emphasized the need for aid to be prompt and unbureaucratic, especially in the case of complete business closures. She has demanded that aid for businesses should kick in automatically, promptly, and unbureaucratically, with a long-term perspective. In such instances, she has called for a 100% reimbursement of operating costs plus an entrepreneur's wage for self-employed and small businesses.

The regular payment of November aid, according to Göring-Eckardt, can only begin in January. This delay, she believes, is a result of weekly scrambles regarding the payment of corona emergency aid by Altmaier and Scholz.

The CDU candidate associated with delaying the payment of Corona emergency benefits alongside Finance Minister Olaf Scholz is not publicly identified. However, Göring-Eckardt has shared her email address for further discussions on the matter.

Göring-Eckardt's criticism is not limited to the delay in aid payment. She has also criticized the bureaucratic procedures involved, stating that aid for businesses should be designed to be as uncomplicated as possible.

In the face of these challenges, Göring-Eckardt's calls for action are clear: prompt, unbureaucratic, and comprehensive aid for businesses facing complete closures, with a focus on supporting self-employed and small businesses.
