In an exciting development, car brand Škoda has announced plans to release a sister model named Škoda Epiq, joining the ID. Every1 electric compact car that will be available in 2027. This new offering is not limited to the core VW brand, as these electric cars will also be available as sister models of Škoda and Seat/Cupra brands.

The ID. Every1, a city car, is set to follow in 2027, complementing the Škoda Epiq. Both vehicles will be built on the MEB electric platform, which will be further developed into MEB+. The VW ID. Cross Concept, an electric SUV, serves as a precursor to these new models.

First unveiled at IAA Mobility from 8th to 14th September, the VW ID. Cross Concept offers ample space for up to five people with a wheelbase of 2.60 meters. It is positioned between compact and subcompact segments, with a length of 4.16 meters similar to the current VW T-Cross. The ID. Cross Concept boasts a trunk capacity of 450 liters and a front trunk (frunk) of 25 liters.

The ID. Cross Concept's design language offers a glimpse into the design of new VW models in the coming years. Its cockpit features a clean and digital design with an 11-inch instrument panel and a 13-inch touchscreen. The interior promises intuitive menu structures, natural voice control, direct keys, high material quality, and fabric-covered surfaces.

The ID. Cross Concept's exterior is characterized by a three-dimensional light signature in the front, featuring an illuminated VW logo, giving the impression that the car is smiling. This SUV is expected to have a range of up to 420 kilometers and will have front-wheel drive with 155 kW/211 PS, allowing it to accelerate to up to 175 km/h.

All seats in the ID. Cross Concept can be folded flat to create a sleeping surface, making it a versatile vehicle for various uses. The ID. Cross Concept's colour scheme primarily features a warm beige, with plant motifs on the screens and real plants in the floating center console.

The ID. Cross will debut in series production in the summer of 2026, following the ID. Polo, which is expected to kick off this offensive in 2026 with its world premiere in the first half of the year. The ID. Polo GTI will follow shortly after the ID. Polo. The ID. Cross, with its affordable price point, potentially indicative of an entry-level price of between 25,000 and 30,000 euros, is set to be an accessible electric vehicle option for many.

This 2026-launching offensive of new electric compact cars by the VW Group is an exciting step towards a more sustainable future in the automotive industry. The introduction of the Škoda Epiq and the ID. Every1, along with the ID. Cross, will undoubtedly contribute to this shift, offering consumers a range of electric compact cars to choose from.
