Companies connected with job seekers through a quick-paced, 20-minute job interview process called speed dating.

In the heart of Regensburg, the district job center played host to the latest JobChance event, a collaborative initiative aimed at counteracting the growing shortage of skilled workers in care, household services, and support.

The event, organised by economic development agencies, regional management, job centers, and the Regensburg employment agency, saw approximately 100 applicants engage in a total of 157 conversations with employers. These discussions, structured to ensure each participant had a personal conversation with an employer every 20 minutes, proved to be a significant step towards addressing the region's workforce needs.

Bavarian State Minister Tanja Schweiger emphasised the importance of securing skilled workers in the social sector, highlighting the event as a vital part of this mission. The Regional Management Project, funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, has been instrumental in making events like JobChance possible.

Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian State Minister for Digital Affairs, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success. He noted that one job offer has already been made, with further talks in the concrete initiation phase. In fact, almost a third of these contacts have already resulted in an invitation to a follow-up job interview.

For the first time, the preparatory job check was conducted in cooperation with the health region of Regensburg, further enhancing the event's impact. The event, being the sixth of its kind, has become a regular fixture in the efforts to address the shortage of skilled workers.

The job placement event format will continue to be employed regularly by economic development agencies, job centers, and the employment agency. For those interested in future events, the Regensburg District Administration - Economic Development can be contacted at [email protected] or by phone at 0941/4009-593.

The JobChance event has proven to be a valuable tool in facilitating conversations between applicants and employers, with 25 applicants being asked to reapply, indicating the event's relevance in terms of career orientation. The event's success underscores the potential of such initiatives in bridging the gap between job seekers and employers in the social sector.
