In a significant move, Imagine Communications, a leading player in the media and entertainment industry, has announced a leadership change. Current CEO, Tom Cotney, will be retiring effective March 31, 2025, and will be succeeded by Steve Reynolds, the current president of the company.

Cotney's tenure at the helm of Imagine Communications has been marked by transformative leadership. Under his guidance, the company has transformed from a hardware-focused organization into a premier software company. Eddie Johnson, executive vice president of Imagine Communications and senior managing director of Gores Group, praised Cotney's leadership, stating that it was transformative for the company.

During Cotney's leadership, Imagine Communications has achieved steady performance and laid the foundation for continued growth. The company is now debt-free, cash-flow positive, and operating at an exceptional level of productivity and effectiveness.

Cotney's role in evolving Imagine Communications will not end with his retirement. He will remain a key part of Imagine's future trajectory, serving as non-executive chairman of the board. In this role, he will support critical customer commitments, advise the leadership team, and serve as a performance coach across all levels of the organization.

Cotney expressed excitement about his new role, stating that it allows him to end his career doing work that is important to him and Imagine. He will continue to be an integral part of the company, ensuring a smooth transition and continued success.

Steve Reynolds, the incoming CEO, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a 25-year career in technology leadership in the media technology sector, Reynolds has held executive positions at Comcast, OpenTV, ACTV, and Intellocity USA. He is a business and technology leader across many facets of the video and advertising landscape.

Reynolds is also a member of SMPTE, SCTE, and serves as chairman of Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS). He holds over 40 digital video-related patents, further demonstrating his expertise in the field.

In his message to the company and its stakeholders, Reynolds emphasized that this leadership change will not alter the way they work, the level of service they provide, or their commitment to upholding the high standards that define Imagine Communications. He intends to continue moving toward the same objectives that Tom Cotney guided Imagine Communications towards.

Reynolds will officially serve as CEO of Imagine Communications starting in 2025, after previously acting as the company's president. His leadership is expected to build upon the strong foundation laid by Cotney, ensuring continued success and growth for Imagine Communications.
