Competing foot races mimicking motor racing, involving occasional mishaps

In the early hours of August 30, 2025, a dramatic incident occurred in Bielefeld, Germany. A 26-year-old man from the city was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, without a valid driver's license.

The incident took place around 1:40 a.m. on Alfred-Bozi-Straße, where a Skoda Fabia overturned near the intersection of Oberntorwall and Obernstraße. Upon arrival, police found the vehicle lying on its side but no one was in it.

The driver, later identified as the 26-year-old man from Bielefeld, had fled the scene on foot towards the city center. He was apprehended approximately 500 meters away from the accident site at a snack bar.

Several blood samples were taken from the man at the hospital to confirm his intoxication. It was established that he had consumed alcohol and drugs before getting behind the wheel.

The estimated damage to the Skoda is around 8,000 euros. The man's identity was not explicitly named in the searched reports, but a drunk driver incident involving a man from Bielefeld on the same date is mentioned in local police reports.
