Construction company Krug Group takes over Meilinger Holzbau in expansion move

The Krug Group, a prominent player in commercial and residential construction, has made a strategic move to strengthen its position in the timber and modular construction sectors. The group has acquired Meilinger Timber Construction, a specialist in prefabricated wooden elements, from Dietfurt.

Founded by Jochen Meilinger in 1999, Meilinger Timber Construction has established a strong reputation for its focus on the production of nailed plate connectors and prefabricated wooden roof truss systems. The Dietfurt location will continue to play a crucial role in the group's integrated production, according to Marian Mehlhose, CEO of Krug Holzsystembinder GmbH.

Jochen Meilinger, the founder, is pleased with the decision to sell his company to Krug, viewing it as a step towards a sustainable and long-term future. He will gradually hand over his management responsibilities to Mehlhose.

For the Krug Group, this acquisition is an ideal building block to enhance their already strong market position in timber construction, particularly in timber modular construction. Dr. Bernd Bergschneider, chairman of the supervisory board of Krug, views the acquisition as an important step to expand the market position in timber construction.

The Krug Group, based in Stadtlauringen, was founded in 1949 and is a leading German supplier in the field of modern engineered timber construction. Currently, they employ around 85 people.

With this acquisition, the Krug Group plans further investments for Meilinger Timber Construction and additional acquisitions in the wood and modular construction sectors. The company sees this move as a positive development for the business, with CEO Mehlhose expressing optimism about the expanded market position in timber modular construction.

The BWK, the majority shareholder, considers the acquisition of Meilinger Timber Construction as an important building block. They believe this move will lead to a stronger market position for the Krug Group. Jochen Meilinger, on the other hand, is confident that Krug is the right partner for his company's future.

In summary, the Krug Group's acquisition of Meilinger Timber Construction marks a significant step forward in their strategy to expand their presence in the timber and modular construction sectors. With further investments and potential acquisitions on the horizon, the future looks promising for both companies.
