Construction Guidelines for a Basic Teeter-Totter
In a creative twist, a seesaw is being built using an old tire, transforming it into a fun and unique playground equipment. The project, spearheaded by an unidentified individual, has caught the attention of several, including Andy and Maxwell.
The tire seesaw project begins with its most challenging part: cutting the tire in half. Andy, who initially tried using a wood-cutting blade, soon realised the need for a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade. After about an hour of careful cutting, the tire was successfully divided.
Two segments, each 9'' long, were then constructed by Andy to serve as braces for the seesaw bench. These were attached to the sides of the tire. A 2' x 3' piece of wood will be used to build additional braces for the seesaw.
The seesaw is designed to be enjoyed by two kiddos, making it a perfect addition for elementary-aged children. However, it's important to note that the weight limit is not suitable for supporting two adults.
Maxwell, the owner, initially expressed some apprehension but ultimately declared his love for the seesaw. He plans to use it as an extension of his rocking horse, creating a one-man balancing game.
The seesaw top was already painted white, but can be spray painted before attachment if desired. For added decoration, 13 black triangles were painted across the top of the seesaw.
Apart from the seesaw, the project also includes 2 handles, 4 screws, and paint. The seat of the seesaw is an old closet shelf, providing a sturdy base for the play equipment.
