Construction of significant project Florinsmarkt set for commencement next year
In the heart of Koblenz, a significant transformation is underway. Jan Leins, a native of the city and a civil engineer, has acquired the majority of shares in the Florinsmarkt project two years ago, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this historic complex.
Leins, who has been self-employed in the south of Germany since 2008, is deeply committed to this project due to his roots in Koblenz. He has abandoned the previous concept of using the premises for classrooms and instead, plans to build a boarding house with 64 apartments and two gastronomic establishments.
The complex, which includes the old Kauf- and Danzhaus, Gothic Schöffenhaus, and Burresheimer Hof, will be fully renovated and is scheduled to open in 2027. The construction work, subject to high requirements due to heritage protection, is expected to take a total of 15 months and will begin at the start of next year.
The boarding house will offer hotel-like services, such as breakfast, and all buildings will be connected by a kind of glass case with a staircase. The ground floor of the buildings will house the two gastronomic concepts, while events will take place in the vaulted cellar and the Schöffenstüble.
The project's architect, Caruso St John, has stated that the immobilien may only be slightly altered to comply with the requirements. Jens Ternes, another architect involved in the project, echoes this sentiment, ensuring that the heritage value of the buildings will be preserved.
The Florinsmarkt project was originally bought more than ten years ago by Martin Görlitz. Leins' investment marks a new era for this historic site, breathing new life into the buildings and contributing to the vibrant city of Koblenz.
