The Berlin Animal Shelter has undergone a significant transformation, with the opening of a newly renovated dog clinic. This project, which began on July 30, 2025, is a central part of the current renovation in Falkenberg and is primarily funded by donations.

The animal welfare organization "Tierschutzverein Tierhilfe Südbrandenburg e.V." has been the primary donor, rallying support from numerous private donors. Their efforts, evident in their fundraising appeals and transactions via bank and PayPal, have made this renovation possible.

The new dog clinic offers a host of improvements for the care of sick or injured dogs. A new dog bath has been installed, and new runs have been created specifically for the needs of these animals. The outdoor area, designed with precision, allows for targeted exercise without disturbing other animals.

The outdoor area features a spacious 340 square meter area adorned with trees, shade, lounging areas, and a tunnel path. This provides a tranquil environment for the dogs to recover and heal.

The renovation also includes the expansion and modernization of the existing facility. New acoustic ceilings have been installed to reduce noise levels, and muzzle systems have been implemented for improved safety training at the dog clinic.

The goal of the shelter's team is to stabilize the animals and find them new homes. Eva Röhnspieß, chairperson of the animal protection association, emphasizes the responsibility that comes with acquiring an animal. She believes that this renovated clinic will create better conditions for the successful recovery of sick dogs.

The entire construction project for the renovated dog clinic costs around 1.5 million euros. This investment is seen as an important step in being able to help animals in the long term, according to the animal protection association.

The number of accommodations will be reduced from 64 to 40, giving each dog more space. This, along with the other improvements, will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of the 224 dogs currently living in the animal shelter, many of whom show health issues or have been kept in poor conditions.

This renovation project is a testament to the power of community support and the dedication of the animal protection association. It marks a new chapter in the care and rehabilitation of dogs at the Berlin Animal Shelter.
