Construction on Dubai's Blue Line Metro Impacting Traffic Flow Towards Centrepoint Station
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an exciting expansion to the city's iconic Dubai Metro system. The Dubai Metro Blue Line, set to open on September 9, 2029, will span 30 kilometers and include 14 stations, connecting nine key districts across the city.
The new line will feature 14 stations, including three interchange stations and nine elevated stations and five underground stations. Notable among these is an iconic station located in Dubai Creek Harbour. The Dubai Metro Blue Line will also connect to the Dubai Silicon Oasis, a major urban hub.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line will operate with 28 trains in its network, carrying 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions. The architect and planning company responsible for the design and construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line is Parsons Corporation.
The transport network is expected to reduce traffic congestion by 20% along the roads it serves. It will significantly cut down travel time, with journeys along the route ranging between 10 and 25 minutes. One of the key benefits of the Dubai Metro Blue Line is its ability to connect residential areas to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes.
The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan projects that the districts served by the Dubai Metro Blue Line will be home to over one million residents. These districts include Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City.
Due to construction works on the Dubai Metro Blue Line, the road leading to the multi-storey car park at the Centrepoint Station from Airport Road will be closed. Drivers are advised to follow the signboards at the location to reach the Centrepoint Station. The RTA has also announced a traffic diversion near Centrepoint Station during this period.
By 2030, the Dubai Metro Blue Line is expected to carry 200,000 riders, a number that is projected to rise to 320,000 passengers by 2040. This expansion project is part of the larger vision to grow the Dubai Metro network, which upon completion will consist of 78 stations and 131 kilometers of railway.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line is set to revolutionise the city's transport network, offering a fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly way to travel. With its expected opening date fast approaching, the city is eagerly anticipating the benefits this new line will bring.
