Construction on the Murrtal Viaduct nearing completion: "A marvel of engineering we are extraordinarily impressed by"
In the picturesque towns of Backnang and Fellbach, significant developments are underway, promising improvements to transportation infrastructure and public health.
The Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office (CVUA) in Fellbach has issued valuable advice for the public to avoid health risks associated with toxic substances found in plant-based foods. As we continue to enjoy the bounty of nature, it's crucial to be mindful of potential hazards and follow safe practices.
Meanwhile, the federal government has announced an investment of approximately 23.7 million euros in the new Murrtalviaduct East. This project forms part of a larger initiative to expand the B 14 between Nellmersbach and Backnang/West into a four-lane highway.
The search results do not currently reveal the architects or engineers involved in the planning and implementation of this ambitious project. However, construction on the Murrtalviaduct East is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with a noise barrier following in early 2026.
Once the Murrtalviaduct East is complete, it will serve as a crucial traffic diversion point before the entire section is finally opened. The B 14 expansion project in Backnang includes the construction of 16 structures, two tunnels, and a double bridge over a 7.5-kilometer stretch.
In addition to these improvements, the mayor of Backnang has emphasised the need for a structural expansion of the Autobahn feeder from Backnang to the A 81. This expansion is seen as essential to prevent the investment in a four-lane B 14 from being rendered ineffective.
Planning for the Backnang-South interchange is currently underway, with construction set to begin as early as summer 2027. By 2030, the entire stretch between Nellmersbach and Backnang-West is scheduled to be four-lane, marking a significant milestone in the modernisation of the region's transportation network.
As these developments unfold, the towns of Backnang and Fellbach continue to evolve, offering residents and visitors improved infrastructure and a safer environment. Stay informed and stay safe!
