Joint Traffic Control Action in the Münster Government Region Yields Significant Results
On August 8, a joint traffic control action was held in the respective areas of the police headquarters of Borken, Coesfeld, Gelsenkirchen, Münster, Recklinghausen, Steinfurt, and Warendorf. The operation, which focused on commercial passenger and goods traffic, was led by Volker Wittenbreder, the head of the traffic directorate of the police in Münster.
The goal of the action was to prevent traffic accidents, enforce traffic regulations, and ensure safety for all road users. A total of 529 vehicles and their occupants were controlled in the Münster government region.
The cooperation of the seven police headquarters and the cooperation partners was excellent. In addition to the police, several partners such as customs office, BALM, Dutch police, veterinary office, food control office, environmental protection office, and local fines offices were present.
The joint press release was issued by the police headquarters of Borken, Coesfeld, Gelsenkirchen, Münster, Recklinghausen, Steinfurt, and Warendorf and was transmitted via news aktuell.
During the action, the police detected 52 violations of social regulations, including driving and rest times. There were 61 speeding offenses and 54 violations related to cargo. The police in Steinfurt and Coesfeld stopped food transports that had not properly maintained their cooling.
Two vehicle drivers tested positive for drugs during the action. The high number of detected violations in relation to the number of controlled vehicles underscores the necessity of such controls.
Almost half of the vehicles had violations, which highlights the importance of adhering to traffic regulations. Hendrik Matena from the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen can be contacted for media inquiries at 02361 55 1044 or [email protected].
