Breaking News: Six-Member Gang Accused of High-Value Watch Thefts in Southwest Germany
A suspected six-member gang, consisting of five men and one woman, has been arrested in connection with a string of high-value watch thefts and burglaries in Southwest Germany. The Public Prosecutor's Office Tübingen and the Police Headquarters Reutlingen launched the investigation following a press release made on 24th July 2025.
The gang is believed to have operated since spring 2025, targeting wealthy men via the dating platform Tinder under false pretenses. On 23rd July 2025, a 44-year-old in Metzingen-Neuhausen was robbed of a high-value wristwatch during a sales talk. The suspect in this case has been identified, and further arrests have been made.
Three suspects, aged 23 and 19, were provisionally arrested during a meeting in Tübingen on 25th July 2025. Two more suspects aged 29 and 21, as well as a 33-year-old, were also arrested. All suspects are currently in custody.
During subsequent meetings, high-value wristwatches were stolen from the victims, and in some cases, house keys were taken for later burglaries. The investigators have secured extensive evidence, including high-value jewelry, Rolex watches, and cash in the six-figure range, during searches in Sindelfingen, Stuttgart, Reutlingen, and Oberreutingen.
The bank cards taken were used to make withdrawals. The suspects are accused of committing band theft, residential burglary, and robbery offenses. A 19-year-old with Guinean citizenship and five German suspects, two of whom hold Turkish citizenship, were presented to the Reutlingen District Court on 26th July 2025.
The search results do not provide information on the name of the judge before whom the suspects arrested in Reutlingen on Saturday, 26th July 2025, were brought to court. The judge issued and enforced the detention orders requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Tübingen.
The investigation is being conducted by a specialized investigation group of the Criminal Police Directorate Esslingen at the location of Tübingen. The investigation continues, and it is believed that further persons may have been involved in similar dating encounters where high-value watches were stolen, and these cases have not yet been reported to the police.
Several high-value vehicles were also seized. The acts attributed to the gang have resulted in damages of at least 200,000 euros. Affected persons are asked to contact the Criminal Police in Tübingen on 07071/972-0 to help identify recovered stolen goods. The public is reminded to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
