Contender Critique by Jury Member Ernst Hutter: "It's Time for the Opponents to Shift the Balance"

The much-anticipated "Brass Band of the South" competition is set to take place on September 20th at 7 pm in Rottenacker, as part of the district music festival. This event, initiated by the "Swabian Newspaper," provides a platform for brass bands to showcase their diverse musical styles.

Two former winners, music associations Kehlen and Ertingen, will compete against two challengers, music associations Griesingen and Westerheim, in the competition. The challengers, the Kohlröserl Dirndln' and the Kreischberg Musikanten, will need to bring their best performance to compete with the two experienced winners.

The competition encourages a great community and dedication from everyone involved in their respective clubs. Ernst Hutter, a trombonist, composer, and long-time leader of "Ernst Hutter and Egerlaender Musikanten - the Original," has been a part of the jury since the competition's inception. This year, he will once again be a part of the jury, alongside Stefan Malzew and other high-profile members, including Rottenacker's Mayor Moritz Heinzmann.

The jury evaluates not only musical criteria but also the entertainment factor, the nature of the performance, show and solo acts, moderation, and the variety of the program. Unlike evaluation games, there is a winner in the "Brass Band of the South" competition, and all participating bands also receive prizes.

One unique aspect of this year's competition is that the two winners have never competed against each other before. The competition offers an opportunity to see the winning bands again after a few years, showcasing the importance of continuity and long-term planning in a band.

Brass music is not limited to traditional groups; it is also used in pop and rock music. The competition offers an evening of interesting brass music and good entertainment. To give the jury a better impression of the bands' abilities, a piece will be performed in absolute silence during the competition.

The female participation rate in brass bands is very high, and the competition features a high participation rate of different generations. For more information about the competition, visit www.kmf2025.de.

The "Brass Band of the South" competition is more than just a competition; it's a celebration of community, dedication, and the love for brass music. Don't miss out on this exciting event!
